Current Teaching
My colleague Dr. Joel Porquet-Lupine has a great discussion on the value of sites such as RateMyProfessor. If you are a BME student, you probably know that BME students rarely post reviews to these sites. I strongly believe that transparency from the instructor themselves (and information sharing between the students) is much more valuable than anything you read on these sites.
Therefore, along with my current teaching schedule, I will also provide the average teaching evaluations across all times I have taught the course (out of 5.0), as well as an average workload as reported by the students if I have taught this course (lecture/lab/self study; unit is hours per week), so you may make your own informed decisions.
Course | Units | Title | Course /5 | Inst /5 | Exp. Load | Next Offering |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
BIM 1 | 2 | Introduction to Biomedical Engineering | N/A | N/A | 1/3/2 | Fall 2025 |
BIM 89C | 4 | Scientific Computing for BME (Python) | 4.6 | 5.0 | 3/2/7 | Winter 2026 |
BIM 107 | 2 | Manufacturing Processes for BME | 4.7 | 4.9 | 1/3/1 | Winter 2026 |
BIM 111 | 6 | Biomedical Instrumentation Lab | 4.6 | 4.6 | 4/3/12 | Fall 2026 |
BIM 155 | 4 | Machine Learning for BME | 4.6 | 4.6 | 3/3/6 | Spring 2025 |
FRS 3 | 1 | Navigating Challenges as Women in Engineering | 4.4 | 4.6 | 1/0/1 | Spring 2025 |
If you elect to take my course, my syllabus also has a grade distribution of all students who have taken this course in the previous three years.

Dr. Wang have taught the following courses at UC Davis or Washington State University, but is not currently teaching them:
- BIM 110BC (total 6 units), Biomedical Engineering Senior Design Experience, last taught in 2023
- BIO_ENG 310 (3 credits), Introduction to Transport Processes, last taught in 2021
- BIO_ENG 330 (3 credits), Bioinstrumentation, last taught in 2022
- BIO_ENG 410/411 (6 credits), Bioengineering Senior Design, last taught in 2022

Dr. Wang is the winner of the American Society of Engineering Education, Pacific Southwest Section (ASEE-PSW) Outstanding Early Career Teaching Award in 2024, the UC Davis Biomedical Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award in 2023, the Washington State University's Reid Miller Excellence in Teaching Award in 2022, and the Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering Departmental Teaching Award in 2022.
The Reid Miller awards are designed to commemorate Miller’s long and distinguished career in the College of Engineering and Architecture at Washington State University both as a faculty member and as its Dean. The awards are designed to recognize faculty who emulate Miller’s strong commitment to the quality of teaching in the college.
